Communion
This IS my body. This IS the new testament in my blood.
Luke 22:19-20
1 Corinthians 11:24-25
And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

These records contain a figure of speech called "metaphor." A metaphor is a very strong figure of speech that boldly declares that one thing IS (or represents) another thing. Jesus Christ declared that the bread they were eating WAS his body and that the wine they were drinking WAS the new testament in his blood. His body was broken for our healing and his blood was shed for the remission of our sins. When we celebrate communion we remember how Jesus Christ suffered and gave his life so that we could have both physical health and remission of sins.
