Ephesians 6:14a
   Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, . .

   In the Bible lands, they wear long flowing robes which could hinder walking. Therefore, a "girdle" (a wide stripe of cloth) is worn around the waist to pull the garments together so that they will not get in the way. The word of truth is our girdle and it keeps anything from hindering our walk with God.
