Do you know what a password is?
It's simply a word or a phrase
that "let's you in." It's like a key.
Maybe you've watched a movie where someone used a password to get into
a clubhouse or a private meeting. Probably you have typed in a password
at a computer to unlock a program or to identify yourself and gain access
to your very own programs.
Without the correct password, you absolutely cannot get in!
Well, GRACE is the password that God uses to give us access to the gift
of salvation.
We became God's sons and daughters when we accepted the gift of God's
grace.
No password we could ever think up would work.
We could never earn the right to be called God's sons.
We only have access to God by GRACE.
We only have access to God because He wanted to give it to us freely.
In Galatians 1:3 & 4 we read
"Grace be to you and peace from God the father,
and from the Lord Jesus Christ,
Who gave himself for our sins, that he might
deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and
our Father:"
And in Ephesians 2:4 - 9
"But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great
love wherewith he loved us,
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened
us together with Christ (by grace ye are saved:)
And hath raised up up together, and made us
sit in heavenly placed in Christ Jesus:
That in the ages to come he might shew the
exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ
Jesus,
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and
not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ
Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk
in them."
Ephesians is addressed to "the faithful" in Christ Jesus.
Even the faithful need to be reminded of grace.
Grace raised us from death unto life
We are to "grow in grace." (II
Peter 3:18).
Grace now makes us able to walk according the standard of God's workmanship.
Before accepting God's password we belonged to this "present evil world."
Now we are "seated in the heavenlies."
Grace is quite a big word: it has carried us quite a distance.
